New Mexico Credit Union Advocates Attend Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury’s Road Show Across the State

Credit union advocates from across New Mexico recently attended Representative Melanie Stansbury’s district-wide road show, making stops in Albuquerque, Roswell, and several smaller communities throughout the state. These visits provided valuable opportunities to highlight the impact of credit unions in New Mexico and advocate for the continued strength of our movement.

During each stop, advocates shared local credit union success stories, emphasized the importance of member-driven financial services, and thanked Rep. Stansbury for her ongoing support. Earlier this month, Rep. Stansbury signed a letter—led by America’s Credit Unions—affirming her support for the credit union tax status. This tax status is essential to the credit union difference, helping us deliver more value to our members and reinvest in our communities.

In addition to expressing appreciation for her support, advocates also took time to highlight the importance of maintaining an independent National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Independent regulators help ensure that credit unions remain safe, sound, and member-focused—and that they are not treated like for-profit institutions.
