Advocacy in Action – March 4, 2026
Last week on Capitol Hill, New Mexico credit union leaders sat down with Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández to talk about the real impact credit unions have in the communities we serve. The conversation centered on a few key issues and gave our leaders the opportunity to share not just data, but real stories about how credit unions help families afford the things they need, from reliable transportation to a place to call home. Just a few hours later, those conversations were already making a difference. By lunchtime, Rep. Leger Fernández was on the House Floor speaking about the CDFI Fund and the role institutions like credit unions play in helping Americans manage the cost of living. Hearing those ideas echoed in real time was a powerful reminder of what advocacy in action truly looks like. When credit union leaders bring their experiences, their data, and the stories of the people they serve to Washington, those perspectives don’t stay in the meeting room. They help shape the conversation. |
