CUANM Supports Ukrainian Credit Union Members & Teams

The Credit Union Association of New Mexico (CUANM) has joined the Worldwide Credit Union Foundation’s (WFCU) effort to raise funds for the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund. 

“Ukraine, just like the United States, has a vibrant and strong cooperative credit union system that has helped the country evolve from the Soviet Republic to a democratic beacon in Eastern Europe,” said Juan E. Fernández Ceballos, CUANM’s President & CEO. “With more than a million Ukrainians having had to flee their homes and communities due to the Russian invasion of their country, CUANM supports and grieves with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. Their situation is dire, and our hearts go out to the credit union members and staffing teams of Ukraine.” 

In response to the immediate need for assistance, CUANM is joining countless credit unions from across the globe to identify priority areas where funding can be used to support displaced credit union members and staff. In partnership with the World Council (WOCCU), the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund leverages the global credit union network to identify the immediate priority areas where funding can support displaced credit union members and staff. The combined efforts will help mitigate both short and long-term impacts on Ukraine’s credit union system.
