Credit Union Association of New Mexico Endorses Lujan Grisham

Albuquerque, NM, May 25, 2018 – The Credit Union Association of New Mexico has endorsed Michelle Lujan Grisham for Governor of the State of New Mexico.

Lujan Grisham has been a longtime supporter of credit unions, is a credit union member, and frequently touts credit union’s economic development role supporting the future of New Mexico’s economy.

“We feel Michelle Lujan Grisham understands the needs of New Mexico’s credit unions and their 890,000 hard-working members in New Mexico, and that is why we’re endorsing her in her bid to be New Mexico’s next governor,” said Paul Stull, President and CEO of  CUANM.

Lujan Grisham is deserving of our endorsement because she has worked on many issues of importance to the movement, including:

  • Co-sponsoring legislation to preserve affordable banking services for working New Mexicans
  • Voted in favor of examination fairness for smaller, locally owned financial institutions
  • Voted twice for legislation to increase New Mexico’s credit unions’ ability to invest in our communities
  • Voted in favor of legislation to streamline privacy notification requirements

Credit unions, and CUANM, are non-partisan. We support candidates that support credit unions, and Michelle Lujan Grisham has been a champion for our members throughout the state.

“Credit unions provide financial services to communities across New Mexico, helping grow small businesses, foster economic growth and give families access to affordable mortgages,” said Lujan Grisham. “It is an honor to have the endorsement of the Credit Union Association of New Mexico and look forward to working with them to make sure our families and small businesses have the tools they need to invest in our communities.”
