CENTRAL NM CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONSThe Central New Mexico Chapter of Credit Unions is dedicated to strengthening the credit union movement across the region. Rooted in the belief that cooperatives are stronger when they cooperate, the Chapter facilitates shared learning, advocacy, and professional development in areas such as member service, financial education, compliance, and technology. By working together, Central NM credit unions are better equipped to navigate economic challenges and deliver exceptional value to their members.
As of 2025, the chapter proudly represents 12 credit unions that collectively serve nearly 1 million members. These institutions operate 110 branches across the region and employ close to 3,000 New Mexicans, making them a vital part of the local economy and a trusted alternative to traditional banking. Whether individuals are seeking a more personalized financial experience or looking to support community-based institutions, New Mexico’s credit unions offer a diverse range of services tailored to meet the needs of their members. All Credit Unions organized under New Mexico or Federal law, that operate in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, Guadalupe, San Miguel, Socorro, Cibola, McKinley, Santa Fe, and Valencia Counties are eligible for Chapter membership. NORTHERN NM CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONSThe Northern New Mexico Chapter of Credit Unions aims to foster interest and collaboration among credit unions, enhance operational methods, and uphold a high standard of conduct. It seeks to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas for the mutual benefit of credit unions through meetings and interactions.
Additionally, the chapter strives to increase the advantages of being part of the Credit Union Association of New Mexico for its members, encourage the organization and membership of New Mexico credit unions in both the chapter and the association, and support the educational and professional growth of credit union staff and volunteers. Eligibility for membership in the chapter is extended to all credit unions organized under New Mexico or Federal law that operate within the Northern New Mexico area, also known as those headquartered in areas north of Albuquerque. SOUTHERN NM CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONSThe Southern New Mexico Chapter of Credit Unions is dedicated to supporting and educating credit union management, boards, and committees within its region. Its primary goal is to make them well-informed about the various challenges and opportunities involved in serving their members. Furthermore, the chapter is committed to developing the Emerging Leaders Scholarship fund, designed to promote education and training opportunities for up-and-coming credit union leaders. This scholarship fund aims to provide financial support as funds permit, fostering the growth of future leaders within the credit union community.
To achieve its objectives, the chapter organizes regular meetings that serve as educational forums where credit union directors and committee members can gather to deepen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities in managing their institutions effectively. Membership in the Southern New Mexico Chapter is open to all credit unions, whether organized under state or federal laws, located in specified counties of New Mexico. These counties include Eddy, Chaves, Lea, Otero, Curry, Roosevelt, Quay, and Valencia. This geographical coverage ensures that a broad spectrum of credit unions can benefit from the chapter's initiatives, contributing to the overall strength and resilience of the credit union movement in the region.
