An Update from CUANM: NM Wildfires + CUAid

April 26th, 2022 by admin

The 2022 wildfire season has begun, and fires are raging across our beautiful state. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed emergency declarations Sunday as 20 wildfires burn in nearly half of the NM’s drought-stricken 33 counties.

Your credit union association is monitoring the situation, and should the need arise, we are ready to step into action to support you, your teams, and your credit union.

While most credit unions are out of the immediate fire danger area, two of our members have been affected by the wildfires. Mora County evacuations have prompted the closure of Rincones Presbyterian and Guadalupe CU’s Mora branch. We appreciate Winona Nava for helping Rincones Presbyterian through this evacuation.

This natural disaster is a good reminder that we should all prepare and assess our assets and needs to build a support network that can easily be activated when/if a crisis strikes.

CUANM has partnered with the National Credit Union Foundation to assist NM credit unions affected by the wildfires to access disaster relief funds. We encourage you to download the CUAid app from the Apple or Android app store (https://lnkd.in/dFzbg3U) and submit information about your credit union. By registering your credit union, your information will be saved so you can use the app to create an internal checklist, report a disaster, and request needed items.

CUANM recognizes that this is a difficult time for our state, and we want you to know your association is here for you and your credit union through both the good times and times of crisis.

Please reach out to us any time with any questions, significantly when/if your credit union is affected by any disasters. CUANM is here for you and yours, and you will be in our thoughts and prayers this entire fire season.

In cooperation,
Juan E. Fernández Ceballos
